How Leaders Can Reset After the Holidays and Plan for a Strong 2026

The Post-Christmas Time Warp and the Power of Switching Off

Do you find that the week between Christmas and New Year can feel like a strange time warp? This year, we leaned into it. Slept. Swam. Read. Played Bananagrams. Ate too much. It was blissfully blurry, and it felt like the longest week in the best possible way.

There’s something powerful about fully switching off.

It also helps you see things with fresh eyes when you return because those tabs were well and truly closed in your mind.

A Leadership Reset: What Are You Returning For?

Speaking of…

What are you returning for?

This week, carve out some time — a short solo walk or a coffee with a notebook — and take stock of what you want to put on your plate.

Reflection Questions to Guide Your Year Ahead

Here are a few questions to help:

  • What do I want to achieve in 2026?
  • What do I want my team to achieve?
  • What will success look like for me, individually, and for us, as a team?
  • What challenges held us back last year, and how can we reduce their impact this year?
  • What kind of support will help us perform at our best?

Write it down – just a few thoughts that you can actually use to lead from.

And if it feels useful, bring your team into it. These are strong prompts for your first January team check-in.

More next week.
