A Year of Change, Travel and Unexpected Momentum
This was meant to be the year of the Big Trip for me and my daughter. And it was. We planned it well ahead of time. Annabel was finishing school, I was celebrating a milestone birthday, we both wanted some slow, immersive travel. A palpable change of scene and of pace.
I took over two months off in the middle of this year. And because it’s the nature of running a business, I imagined that work would slow down while I was away.
It didn’t.
More Leaders Are Asking for Help — And Sooner
I’ve never seen this many leaders ready to ask for help. Ready to admit, out loud, that they want support. I ended up working with so many leaders and their teams – all despite taking months off in the middle of the year.
I’m not telling you this to show that not everything collapses when you’re away – although that’s a good reminder for everyone, especially now, on the cusp of holidays.
This year, I saw more leaders ask for help — earlier, more openly, with more clarity about what’s not working and what they want to do differently. That feels like a meaningful shift.
Leadership Reflection Before Planning the Year Ahead
It strikes me as the kind of thing worth noticing before you plan the year ahead.
How do you feel about your growth as a leader this year? What would you like to do differently?
All good things,

Join the Year in Review Session
PS: Next week, I’ll be looking at how the year went with a small group of leaders – join us for the Year in Review LIVE session and let’s make sense of what shifted, what held steady, and what’s ready to change.
The Year in Review is how I do that — not just to track what happened, but to name what changed.
