Welcome to a new year!
Did you manage to switch off and get a good rest?
I sometimes struggle with the mad week between Christmas and New Year when I generally have no idea of even what day of the week it is.
This year we were away so I embraced that feeling; slept, read, swam, ate delicious food, talked and played scrabble, and I felt like the week went for aaaagggeees.
The power of time away from work
There is definitely something powerful in resting and really ‘switching off’. So we are able to ‘switch on’ again, not just dial up the dimmer switch.
Were you able to take a break and enjoy time away from work – to ‘switch off’? I really hope so because… we have good work to do this year.
Setting yourself and your team up for success
I want to help you set yourself and your team up for success. Create building blocks towards that early-year foundation that will support you throughout the coming year.
And the very first brick we need to lay for that foundation is to know what we want to build.
How to know what our team needs
Here are the questions I invite you to reflect on. (I recommend making a cup of tea and having a go at these questions with a pen and paper. You don’t need to write War and Peace, just a few notes that help you start to clarify and articulate what you want this year to look like).
⁉️ What do I want to achieve in 2025?
⁉️ What do I want my team to achieve this year?
⁉️ What will success look like in both of those cases?
⁉️ What challenges held me and my team back last year, and what do I need to do so they don’t impact us or impact us less this year?
⁉️ How can I better support my team to perform at their best?
Write it down. The specifics, the details.
And encourage your team to reflect on these things too, and on how you can work together to create a compelling vision for the year?
All good things,
